Written Tests

- TPS offers group tutoring sessions for applicants to help them prepare more effectively for the exam
- Our tutoring aims to improve diversity within the top ranking applicants
- TPS’s written exams are developed to have both content and criterion-related validity
- Our procedures serve to minimize bias and provide a more accurate indication of each applicant’s abilities
- Test sessions are scheduled at the convenience of each department
- Representatives from TPS will supervise and administer the exam
Structured Oral Interviews
- TPS has developed structured oral interview procedures that evaluate the interpersonal and reasoning skills of applicants using standardized methods
- Structured interview procedures improve the fairness, validity and legal defensibility of a selection process
- TPS staff will meet with representatives of the department to customize the structured oral interview questions to be used
- We conduct a training session with the rating board that will implement the interviews
- TPS staff members can monitor the initial phase of the interview process since monitoring by a consultant assures that a process is carried out in a consistent and defensible manner
Results
- Results are provided to the department within one week
- TPS works with the department to set appropriate cut-off levels and to ensure statistical viability of final decisions
